Fusion Workout - Piloxing At Virgin Active
Posted on 06 April 2015
Last week, we headed to Sydney's Premium Fitness Destination - Virgin Active Moore Park.
We loved it - whether you're a weight girl, a boxer, a yogi or do a bit of everything, Virgin Active has an amazing set of equipment and classes - so it was safe to say we were in workout heaven!
So what did we try? Piloxing
Models, celebrities, fitfluencers and even some of our friends rave about the results they get from both boxing and Pilates. Boxing is a great cardiovascular base workout and the moves engage your core and legs to fire up fat burning.
Pilates is core based and also works many of your smaller stabilizing muscles responsible for sculpting lean muscle mass and creating a dancer's physique.
At Virgin Active, they have combined the best of both worlds with Piloxing. A dance, Pilates and boxing based workout.
It was a fast paced, heart rate raising workout with bursts of Pilates dispersed throughout to really get those muscle shaking. Now whilst many different types of fusion workout have been popping up over the last few months here are some reasons we think Piloxing is a winner:
- 1. It works both your cardiovascular endurance in boxing and your muscular endurance with Pilates
- 2. It follows an interval training format - Boxing and then Pilates as active recovery which is most effective for increasing your metabolism, increasing muscle tone and promoting weight loss
- 3. You can increase the strength component of the workout by adding wrist and ankle weights (we always like an extra burn)
- 4. You get your cardio, strength and flexibility workouts done in one super effective workout.
