Tell us a bit about yourself? How did you get to where you are today?

I am a full-time personal trainer and running coach. I've always
loved running and the opportunities it presented. I actually moved to
Sun Valley because of my son. Who is in his own right, is an incredible
athlete on a dirtbike. I took a job with Scott USA to provide my son
with sponsorship, and the opportunity for him to grow in his sport.
Since Scott has left the valley, I've had the opportunity to
pursue my personal training and coaching.

What is one of the most important lessons you have learnt as a running coach?

Running has the ability to change you. It changes your body, your
mind, and your soul. Running builds character, and increases
confidence. I have learned that a simple short run for someone who has
never ran in their life, can bring such happiness. I can't
imagine doing anything different.

What daily habits keep you productive?

I try to run, and lift 5 to 6 days a week. Instead of dieting or
cleansing, I choose to eat clean as a lifestyle choice not a diet
choice. Eating clean 90% of the time, and enjoying those guilty
pleasures when I want them.

Why is health and fitness a priority for you?

Health and fitness are a priority because we are given this one, and
only body that we must take care of on a daily basis. Being healthy
gets us out to enjoy this playground in which we live here in Sun
Valley Idaho.

What are your thoughts on that elusive work/life/balance combination?

Two most important commodities {arguably} are your money, and time.
Two most important assets are your body, and mind.
Never hesitate to invest the former to improve the latter.

What is your favourite way to exercise?

Workouts I do often are movements that involve coordination,
balance, strength, and endurance. These have kept me healthy, and uninjured
100% of the time.

What are your thoughts on mistakes, challenges or failures?

There is no such thing as a bad run. If things aren't going exactly
how you'd like them to go when you're out on your run, it usually
means that you have an opportunity to learn something new. Struggle is
the fire from which change arises, and the best time to make the most
of a struggle is when it's right in front of your face.

Now, I know that might sound a bit simplistic. But too often we're led
to believe that struggling is a bad thing, or that we struggle because
we're doing something wrong.

I disagree. I look at struggle as an opportunity to grow. True
struggle happens when you can sense what is not working for you and
you're willing to take the appropriate action to correct the
situation. Those who accomplish change are willing to engage the

If you could share one piece of wisdom to your teenage self what would it be?

Believe in yourself.

What is your favourite mantra or motivational saying?

"The present moment is all you ever have." -Eckhart Tolle
