I really believe in listening to your body and what it needs as I’ve gotten a bit older, I’ve become more and more in tune with it. Some days I feel sluggish, and I need to give myself a bit of a kick up the butt, other days, I feel stressed and need to burn off my nervous energy, while other days I just know I need to rest and recoup. These are my favourite workouts for some of my different moods:

ENERGY

If I’m feeling lethargic, I like to do a good high intensity interval-training (HIIT) workout first thing in the morning. Burpees, while I absolutely hate them, are really good for boosting your energy level for the rest of the day. Plus, a HIIT workout provides a huge “afterburn affect”, meaning your metabolism will be firing long after your workout which also helps to keep your energy stable

STRESSED

If I feel stressed or overwhelmed, sometimes just putting on my sneakers and putting on my headphones for a good run outside is the best remedy and helps clear my head.

ANGRY

Sounds totally cliché but a boxing session does wonders for getting all the anger or frustration out!

TIRED

If I’m genuinely tired (not sleeping more than 3-4 hours for days in a row), then I will really listen to my body and let it rest and not workout. If I’m just not feeling up to a super intense workout then I will do a good soothing and fluid yoga workout – not too slow (my brain starts to wonder too much) but not power yoga either.

HAPPY

My favourite workout that is guaranteed to make me feel happy is a good combination of dancing and cardio. Good music, fun routines (not too much choreography!) and some core and toning moves and I am set!
